FAQ

General Questions

Hi there! Have some questions about our company? Find the answers below.
  • What is a ghost tour?

A ghost tour is a walking tour that travels the streets stopping along at buildings that are thought to be haunted. We present you with the facts and folklore attached to each location, and you can draw your own conclusions. We do not enter any of the buildings, aside from on Boos and Brews, as many of them are privately owned and/or operating businesses and closed after hours. The tours are not a ghost hunt or ghost investigation, We don't sit in the dark waiting for a spirit to appear, nor is anyone going to jump out and scare you. This isn't a haunted house.

  • Do I have to get my tickets online?

Most of the time the tours sell out, so if you are wanting to go on a tour, then the tickets will need to be purchased in advance.  The ticket sales page will give a warning if tickets are low, but often the tours sell out a few hours before hand.

  • What time do the tours start?

The tours start at the time designated when you purchased your ticket. We have varying times.

Tours leave promptly and will not wait for anyone who is running late, so please be prompt! If you get left behind, we don't stray too far, so we will be easy to find.

  • Where can we park?

You park wherever you can find a space.

We do not have designated parking spots.

Please be aware of all signs regarding private parking lots.

  • What should I wear?

Comfortable walking shoes are very important, and weather-appropriate attire is recommended.

You might think about dressing in layers.

We would also encourage you to bring some water to stay hydrated if you need it.

  • Is the tour appropriate for children?

The material discussed during the tour deals with murders, prostitutes, suicides and unusual deaths. This might be too frightening for some children, so please gauge your child's tolerance of such subjects and plan accordingly. We aren't the parenting police. You know what is acceptable for your child.

  • Can we have alcoholic beverages?

The short answer is yes, with some qualifications.

The area we cover is in a designated entertainment zone.

The Argenta outdoor dining district ordinance allows restaurants, bars and breweries within the entertainment district to sell alcoholic beverages that may be taken out of the establishment and consumed within the district's boundaries between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily.

Feel free to patronize the local businesses and get a drink to go.  Keep in mind, we are walking at night, so just be responsible.

  • Are there bathrooms?

No there are not. The tours are on the street.

There are businesses along the route that would probably allow you to use theirs, but you would miss some of the tour. It is recommended that you be sure to go before you arrive!

  • Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are allowed on the standard tour, but not Boos and Brews.

The ghost tour is actually a great, pet-friendly event to do.

We do have one condition, and that is that you are responsible for your dog and should they cause a problem or if a guest has a problem with them, we will ask you to remove the dog from the tour.

  • Is the tour handicap accessible?

Aside from the occassional construction which may be happening, yes. We stay on the sidewalks and there are wheelchair ramps at each of the intersections.

Boos and Brews, unfortunately is not, as we have to navigate steps.

  • Do you offer private tours?

Yes. If you have a group, you can book a private tour, with certain minimums for numbers.

The cost is $20.00 a person or we do a flat rate as well. The flat rate will apply if you don't have sufficient numbers.

You can pay in one payment or just get a group of friends together and everyone pays for themselves.

With private tours, you can have them modified to your liking. For instance, if you would like to stop in a bar and get a drink, we can do that.

  • How does the check in process work?

We believe in ghosts, but not necessarily in trees becoming them. We do our tickets will-call style, so there are no physical tickets. If you have purchased your ticket online, simply show up and give us the name you signed up with. That's it!

  • What is your inclement weather policy?

We will travel through most weather.  Only in rare circumstances do we cancel.  We will send out emails to all ticket holders in these rare events.

One half hour before a tour an email will be sent to all ticket holders advising of a cancellation. In the event that a tour is cancelled, you will receive a refund, or have the option of moving to another date, if available.

In most all cases, Boos and Brews will continue and will move into indoor locations.

  • Do you give refunds?

Tickets are non-refundable, aside from the event of cancellation by us. However, if for some reason, you have an emergency and cannot attend let us know.  Often we have a waiting list and can refund your ticket.

Also, we are happy to allow someone else to go in your place if you would like to have them attend. Just let us know.

If you have a specific complaint or issue, please address this to Paul, and each case will be dealt with on an individual basis.

You can email him at paul@paulprater.com. We try to be fair, so long as you are too.
